Bjorn and Maria Hawes joined staff at YWAM Minneapolis in March 2008. Their first experience with YWAM was in Tasmania, Australia in 2002. There they met and were married 3 years later. Bjorn and Maria have completed a DTS and SOE with YWAM and now work with the Mission Adventures program, and the Fall DTS's.

The three-fold mission of YWAM Minneapolis is to DWELL-live as a nurturing community of believers, TRAIN-make disciples, and SEND-proclaim the Gospel to the nations. As we train, our goal is not simply to instruct our students, but to instill in each of them the character and passion of Christ.

Ministry Goals

Our heart is for young people to be challenged to see God's perspective on different races, cultures, and people groups through short-term missions. We want to encourage young people to "dream big" and pursue the destiny God has for them. We want to be a bridge;connecting the local church with all nations through missions.

Current Activity

We are currently involved in the Mission Adventures program. Starting in June the M.A team will host over 300 youth to go on a short-term mission trip. Destinataions will include Peru, Louisiana, Native American reservations in South Dakota, and Minneapolis.

Prayer Requests

Please pray for an increase in VISION, a deeper passion for all that we do, and for monthly financial sponsors.

Special Projects and Events

Most recently we are returning from a 6 week mission trip to Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia. We were there mainly teaching English, as their culture, predomintly muslim, does not allow for the openess of Christ to be shared. We were welcomed into their lives with amazing warmth and hospitality. We were able to teach English to over 1000 Kyrgyz students. Hundreds of Gap kids clothes were donated to YWAM to bring to the orphans. Lots of hats, scarves, gloves, and socks were also donated to give to the homeless. We had the opportunity to hook up with many of the long-term YWAM workers. Here's a look at some of their ministries, toilet seat construction, (most people use squatty potty's), English education, rehab for physically and mentally handicap children, community center project for recreation, education, and food distribution, bible studies, and much more. We were blessed to be able to partner with them. I think we left a piece of our hearts in Kyrgyzstan. We were impacted by the simplicity of their life, and the reality that they need eachother just to survive on a daily basis.

Thank You!

We would like to thank all of our family members for being so supportive in what we do. We could not do it without you! We would aslo like to thank our church for backing us up in prayer and supporting our vision. Thank You so much to all of our monthly supporters! You make it possible for us to continue our work in missions.
